Crab Cake Recipes

Sea food is great, apart from the fact that it can be prepared in a variety of ways, it's a great sources of vitamins and is relatively simple to prepare. Crab cake is a type of fish cake, made up of crab, meat, seasoning and other ingredient. It's popular in the United States and mainly associated with Baltimore, Maryland. Here are some recipes for crab cakes:
Maryland Crab Cakes
• 1 Pound of Crab Meat                                      • 2 slices of white bread, crusts trimmed   
• 1 beaten egg
• 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise
• 1 teaspoon of Dijon-Style prepared mustard
• 1 Teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
• 1 Table spoon of Old Bay Seasoning
• 2 Tablespoons of Butter.


Directions for preparation: Examine the crab meat for any pieces of shell. Pick and remove them all. Break bread into small pieces and place in a medium size bowl with crab meat. Add eggs, mustard, mayonnaise, Worcestershire Sauce, old bay seasoning. Mix the ingredient manually to avoid over working the crab meat, there is need to preserve the lumps of meat as much as possible.
Form them into patties, about 6 large cakes. Heat about 4 table spoons of butter in a skillet and fry cakes for about 4 minutes till both sides are brown.
Ginger Crab Cakes
• 14 ounces of crab meat                    
 • ½ cup of light mayonnaise  
• ¼ cup of minced green onions
• 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro
• 1 tablespoon of lime juice
• 2 table spoons of minced fresh ginger root
• ¼ teaspoon of hot pepper sauce
• ¼ teaspoon of salt
• 2 eggs
• ¾ cup of dry bread crumbs
• ¼ cup of vegetable


Directions for preparation: Mix crab meat, mayonnaise, green onions, lime juice, cilantro, ginger, hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Shape them into 12 patties.
Beat eggs in a shallow light dish, place bread crumbs in another shallow dish. Dip patties into the egg and press bread crumbs to coat them all over.
In a large frying pan, heat 2 table spoons oil over medium heat, add the remaining oil as needed and cook for about 3 minutes as required on each side until it turns golden.
The preparation time for this recipe is about 22 minutes, it takes about 12 minutes for preparation and 10 minutes to cook.
